I am a tale of the sea, of a man and a fish,
But my deeper meaning is more than just this.
I tell of a journey, a mission divine,
Of a man who refused to follow the line.
My protagonist was called to a land far away,
But he boarded a ship going the opposite way.
A tempest did rage, till Jonah was thrown
Into the belly of a fish, all alone.
For three days he prayed, and the fish spat him out,
And he finally journeyed to where he had doubt.
Nineveh was a place steeped in depravity,
But Jonah preached repentance and saved the city.
So what am I, this tale of the sea?
A book of the Old Testament, clear as can be.
Jonah is my name, and in my pages you’ll see
The grace of God and His vast mercy.
