Once there was a man who had a yard full of dog poop. He looked at his yard and said to himself, “What shall I do? My yard is overflowing with dog poop, and I have nowhere to put it all.” Then he said, “I will tear down my small poop scoop and build a bigger one, and I will store all of my dog poop there.”
So the man tore down his small poop scoop and built a larger one. He then gathered all of his dog poop and stored it in the larger scoop, thinking to himself, “Now I have all of my dog poop stored in one place, and I can relax and enjoy my clean yard.”
But God said to the man, “You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get all of your dog poop?”
This is how it will be for anyone who stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God. Just as dog poop can overwhelm one’s yard, focusing solely on material possessions can lead to a life without true purpose or fulfillment. It is important to remember to focus on our spiritual selves and be rich in our relationship with God, rather than accumulating possessions that will not bring us true happiness.
