In Revelation 21, John sees a new heaven and a new earth, with the old earth passing away. The first heaven and earth had been corrupted by sin, but the new heaven and earth are pure and holy. The gates of the new Jerusalem are made of pearls and the city is filled with precious jewels. There is no need for a temple, because God and the Lamb are the temple. The river of the water of life flows through the city, and the tree of life is there, bearing fruit each month. God Himself will live with His people, and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.
"Then he said to me, ‘It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.’" – Revelation 21:6 (ππ¦)
