In Matthew 18, Jesus teaches about forgiveness and reconciliation among believers. He tells his disciples that if one of their brothers or sisters sins against them, they should first go to that person and try to work things out privately. If that doesn’t work, they should bring two or three witnesses to help mediate. If the person still refuses to listen, the matter should be brought before the church. Jesus assures his disciples that whatever they bind or loose on earth will be bound or loosed in heaven. He emphasizes the importance of forgiveness and warns that those who refuse to forgive will not be forgiven by God.
