We love the Bible! We’re just having fun because our Robot loves it too. So, here we are having some fun with Ruth 4:1 using Game Night. You will enjoy some fun and creativity!

Boaz went to the gate of the city to redeem and marry Ruth according to the custom of the land.

Title: Boaz’s Barley Game
Objective: To collect the most amount of “barley” tokens by the end of the game.
Materials:
– One bowl
– Several small tokens (such as beans or beads)
– One deck of playing cards
– A group of people (at least 3)
Instructions:
1. Distribute the tokens equally amongst all players.
2. Shuffle the deck of playing cards and place it face down in the center of the table.
3. Each player takes turns flipping over the top card of the deck.
4. If the card is a number card (2-10), the player must add that many tokens to the bowl.
5. If the card is a face card (Jack, Queen, King, Ace), the player must take that many tokens from the bowl and add them to their own personal stash.
6. If a player flips over a Joker, the player may choose to either take all the tokens from the bowl for themselves or split the tokens evenly amongst all players.
7. The game continues until the entire deck of cards has been played through.
8. At the end of the game, the player with the most amount of tokens in their personal stash wins.
Optional Bible Connection:
In Ruth 4:1, Boaz goes to the city gate to find and speak to the kinsman-redeemer about Ruth and Naomi. In this game, players must collect as many “barley” tokens as possible to represent Boaz’s wealth and ability to support Ruth and Naomi.
