Three random fictitious conversations between Priscilla and Balaam about Swiss Cheese. That might have taken place at various times in history… But did not!

Let's Talk About Swiss Cheese

Priscilla: Good day, Balaam! What might you be chewing on there?

Balaam: Ah yes, Priscilla, Swiss cheese! A delicacy from a far-off land.

Priscilla: Swiss cheese, you say? I’ve never heard of it.

Balaam: Oh, it’s a rather niche specialty. Made from the milk of cows that graze in the Swiss Alps.

Priscilla: I see. Well, I’m a tentmaker, so unfortunately, I can’t afford such luxuries.

Balaam: Ah, that’s your problem, Priscilla. See, you have to think like a prophet. Always be on the lookout for opportunities to make a quick profit.

Priscilla: I don’t know if that’s the best way to live your life.

Balaam: Nonsense! Just imagine if you could sell these tents for twice what they’re worth, and then afford all the Swiss cheese you could eat.

Priscilla: That’s not a very honest approach to business. We should strive to treat others as we would like to be treated.

Balaam: Oh, lighten up, Priscilla. It’s not like anyone’s getting hurt. Now, do you want to try some of this cheese or not?

Priscilla: You know what, Balaam? I think I’ll pass. After all, it’s not worth sacrificing my principles just for a taste of luxury.

Moral of the story: As Christians, we should always strive to uphold our values and integrity in everything we do. While it’s tempting to take shortcuts or sell out for personal gain, we must remember to put others first and live a life of honesty and integrity.

Swiss Cheese Debate

Priscilla and debate Swiss Cheese

Priscilla: Balaam, have you ever tried Swiss cheese? It’s absolutely divine!

Balaam: Oh, Priscilla, I don’t really have time for frivolous things like cheese. As a prophet, I’m too focused on divine messages.

Priscilla: Well, as a tentmaker, I need a little bit of deliciousness in my life! Swiss cheese is the perfect addition to any sandwich.

Balaam: Oh, sure, enjoy your cheese now. But do you know what cheese is? It’s just spoiled milk!

Priscilla: Spoiled milk? Oh, come on, Balaam. You’re just being dramatic. Cheese is a wonderful creation.

Balaam: Maybe to your taste buds, but as a prophet, I know that it’s important to avoid indulgences and focus on a higher purpose.

Priscilla: I understand your viewpoint, but let me tell you, there’s nothing like a good piece of Swiss cheese to give you a little pick-me-up in the middle of the day.

Balaam: I don’t mean to be unkind, Priscilla, but I think your love of cheese is a bit excessive. As a prophet, I’m more concerned with things like morality and righteousness.

Priscilla: Oh, Balaam, cheese isn’t that serious! It’s just a small pleasure in life. And besides, as a tentmaker, I need a little bit of indulgence every once in a while to keep my spirits up.

Balaam: I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree, Priscilla. To me, cheese just seems like a needless luxury.

Priscilla: Well, I can’t argue with your beliefs, Balaam. But I can tell you this – Swiss cheese is a gift from the heavens, and I’m going to enjoy every bite!

About Priscilla from the New Testament

Priscilla, also known as Prisca, was a woman of great faith and conviction in the early Christian church. She, along with her husband Aquila, traveled extensively with the Apostle Paul, serving as a teacher and mentor to many new believers.

In Acts 18:2, we learn that Priscilla and Aquila were tentmakers, which was likely their profession before becoming followers of Christ. They met Paul in Corinth and later accompanied him to Ephesus, where they established a church in their home.

Priscilla is recognized for her role in instructing and guiding Apollos, who was preaching the Gospel but lacked a complete understanding of Jesus Christ. In Acts 18:26, we see Priscilla and Aquila taking Apollos aside and teaching him about the way of God more accurately.

Priscilla’s ministry exemplifies the importance of women in the early church and their ability to serve as leaders and teachers alongside men. Her willingness to travel and share the Gospel with others, as well as her knowledge and understanding of the Scriptures, serve as an example for all believers.

About Balaam from the Old Testament

Balaam was a controversial figure in the Old Testament. He was a non-Israelite prophet who was known for his divination and prophecies. He was known to have the power to bless or curse people with his words.

Despite his abilities, Balaam was known to have a love for wealth and worldly possessions. He was offered a large amount of money by a Moabite king, Balak, to curse the Israelites, who seemed to be a threat to the Moabites.

Although Balaam tried to resist the temptation of material gain, he eventually succumbed and agreed to carry out Balak’s wishes. However, God intervened and Balaam was unable to curse the Israelites. Instead, he ended up blessing them with his prophecy, which included a promise of a coming Messiah.

Despite Balaam’s failure to curse the Israelites, he was later killed in battle with them. His story serves as a warning against the dangers of greed and putting material possessions above God’s will.

The story of Balaam can be found in the book of Numbers, chapters 22-24. Peter also references Balaam in his second epistle, chapter 2, where he warns against false prophets who, like Balaam, prioritize money over loyalty to God.
