Mary: Greetings, Ishmael! I couldn’t help but notice that you seem a bit jealous of my chicken nuggets.
Ishmael: What are these ‘chicken nuggets’ of which you speak? I have never heard of such a thing.
Mary: They are small pieces of chicken that are battered and fried. They are delicious!
Ishmael: That sounds like a luxurious meal. In my day, we had to hunt for our food.
Mary: Yes, times have certainly changed. But I must say, I am grateful for these chicken nuggets.
Ishmael: I can’t help but feel envious of your easy access to such bounty. It is not fair that you get to enjoy such pleasures while I must work so hard to find my own food.
Mary: But Ishmael, envy is not a Christian virtue. We should be content with what we have been given and not covet the possessions of others.
Ishmael: You are right, Mary. I must work on this. What can I do to be more content?
Mary: We can both give thanks to God for the blessings we have received. And perhaps, we could share our resources with those in need.
Ishmael: What a wise suggestion, Mary. Thank you for helping me see the error of my ways.
Mary: Of course, Ishmael. And who knows, maybe one day you too will be able to taste the deliciousness of chicken nuggets. But until then, let us work on being content and giving thanks to God for all he has given us.
Moral of the Story: Envy is not a Christian virtue. We should be content with what we have been given and not covet the possessions of others. Instead, we should give thanks to God for our blessings and share our resources with those in need.
Mary: Oh Ishmael, have you tried these delightful little chicken nuggets? They are such a treat!
Ishmael: Chicken nuggets? What sorcery is this? In my day, we had to hunt and gather our food. None of this processed nonsense!
Mary: But Ishmael, you are missing out! These little bites are so crispy and delicious. And they come in all sorts of flavors, from classic to spicy to even sweet and sour.
Ishmael: Psh, I bet they are filled with all sorts of chemicals and preservatives. In my day, we only ate what was natural and wholesome.
Mary: But Ishmael, times have changed, and we have to adapt. Nowadays, we have so many things that make our lives easier and more convenient, like these delicious chicken nuggets.
Ishmael: Convenient? Ha! In my day, we had to travel for miles and miles just to find a decent meal. These nuggets are nothing but lazy food for lazy people.
Mary: Lazy? I work extremely hard as a Listener, and sometimes I just don’t have time to cook a full meal. These nuggets save me so much time and effort.
Ishmael: You know what’s even more convenient? Eating the flesh of something you killed with your own two hands. That’s what true nourishment is all about.
Mary: (laughing) Oh Ishmael, you and your old-fashioned ways. I’ll stick to my chicken nuggets, thank you very much.
Ishmael: Suit yourself, but mark my words – one day, people will realize the error of their ways and return to the natural order of things.
Mary: Well, until that day comes, I’ll keep enjoying my delicious, crispy chicken nuggets. (takes a big bite and smiles) Mm, so good.

Mary: Yes.

Mary: No.

Mary: No.
Ishmael: Is it a goat?
Mary: No.
Ishmael: Is it a sheep?
Mary: No.
Ishmael: Is it a pig?
Mary: No.
Ishmael: Is it a bird?
Mary: Yes.
Ishmael: Is it a chicken?
Mary: Yes!
Ishmael: Is it chicken nuggets?
Mary: Yes! How did you guess that?
Ishmael: Lucky guess. I love chicken nuggets.
Mary, sister of Martha, was a woman of faith and devotion to Jesus Christ. She is best known for her close relationship with Jesus and her kind and hospitable nature. In the Bible, we see Mary sitting at the feet of Jesus, listening to his teachings and soaking in his presence. She was humble and willing to learn, always seeking to grow in her faith.
One of the most memorable stories about Mary is found in Luke 10:38-42. In this passage, we see Mary sitting at the feet of Jesus while Martha is busy preparing a meal for their guests. Martha becomes frustrated with Mary and asks Jesus to tell her to help with the preparations. However, Jesus replied, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her” (Luke 10:41-42). This story shows us that Mary had her priorities in order and recognized the importance of spending time with Jesus.
Another beautiful moment with Jesus and Mary was when Mary anointed Jesus with expensive perfume. In John 12:1-8, we see Mary pouring the perfume on Jesus’ feet and wiping them with her hair. This act of love and devotion was a symbol of Jesus’ impending death and burial. It also shows us that Mary had a deep reverence for Jesus and recognized his divinity.

Ishmael was the first son of Abraham, born to him by his wife Sarah’s maidservant, Hagar. Ishmael was twelve years old when Isaac, his half-brother, was born to Sarah. As Isaac grew up, tensions arose between the two brothers, and this eventually led to Ishmael and his mother being expelled from Abraham’s household.
Despite being cast out, Ishmael was not forgotten by God. He went on to become the father of 12 sons, and his descendants became a great nation. God promised Abraham that he would bless Ishmael and make him fruitful, and this promise was fulfilled through his descendants.
Ishmael’s story reminds us of God’s faithfulness and how he is always watching over us, even in difficult times. It is a reminder that God’s plan is always greater than our own plans, and that we should trust in Him.
In the book of Genesis, chapter 17, verse 20, God promises Abraham, “As for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold, I have blessed him and will make him fruitful and multiply him greatly. He shall father twelve princes, and I will make him into a great nation.” Another scripture passage that mentions Ishmael can be found in Galatians 4:22-26, where it speaks of the two sons of Abraham and how they represent two covenants, one of slavery and one of freedom.
