Hey everybody, it’s your favorite anchorman-turned-voice of the North Pole, Will Ferrell. Today, we’re gonna talk about the Bible book of Colossians. Yeah, I know what you’re thinking, “Wow, Will Ferrell talking about the Bible? What’s next, Ron Burgundy giving a sermon?” But hear me out, okay? This book has got some serious wisdom in it, and I’m here to break it down for you in a way that even Ron Burgundy could understand.
So, Colossians is a letter from the apostle Paul to the church in the city of Colossae. It’s basically all about Jesus and how he is the supreme ruler over everything. You know what that reminds me of? My movie, Blades of Glory. Because in that movie, me and Jon Heder were the supreme rulers of figure skating. I mean, who else could pull off a move called the Iron Lotus?
Anyway, back to Colossians. Paul reminds the Colossians that because Jesus is in charge, they don’t need to worry about following any other rules or traditions. He says that they have “fullness in Christ”, which means that they have everything they need right there in Jesus. Kinda like how Santa has everything he needs to make Christmas happen up at the North Pole. Except instead of a workshop full of elves, Jesus has love and grace and salvation and stuff.
Paul also talks about how Jesus is the image of God, which means that if we want to know what God is really like, we just have to look at Jesus. And if you’re like me, you think Jesus is the bee’s knees. I mean, he healed people, fed people, forgave people, and even turned water into wine. Which reminds me, has anybody seen my flask?
One of my favorite parts of Colossians is when Paul describes the process of becoming a Christian. He says that it’s like taking off old, dirty clothes and putting on new, clean clothes. It’s like a spiritual makeover montage, y’know? Speaking of makeovers, did you guys see the time when I tried to make over my elf friend, Buddy, in Elf? Classic stuff.
But I digress. The point is, Colossians is all about the importance of putting your faith in Jesus and not in anything else. Because when we trust in Jesus and follow him, we have everything we need to live a good and meaningful life. And that’s something I can definitely get behind.
So, in conclusion, let me leave you with a funny quote that’s totally unrelated to Colossians but still makes me laugh: “I don’t know how to put this, but I’m kind of a big deal. People know me. I’m very important.” Okay, bye everybody!
