Yo, what’s up, folks? It’s your boy Vin Diesel here and I’m gonna tell you about the Book of Mark from the Bible, as if I was seeing it from my own eyes.
So, at the beginning of Mark’s Gospel, John the Baptist comes on the scene, preaching about the coming of Jesus Christ. Then Jesus is baptized by John the Baptist, at which point the Holy Spirit descends on him like a dove and a voice from heaven is heard saying “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”
After his baptism, Jesus heads into the wilderness for 40 days and nights to be tempted by the devil. Jesus then travels to Galilee, where he starts to preach about the Kingdom of God, and performs many miracles, including healing a man with leprosy, and quieting a storm. Jesus also feeds 5,000 people with only five loaves of bread and two fish, which is a scene I’d love to see in the Fast and the Furious franchise, you know what I’m saying?
As he travels, Jesus teaches his disciples about the Kingdom of God, but they don’t really understand what he’s talking about. Then, Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up a high mountain, where he is transfigured before them and his clothes become dazzling white. They are visited by Moses and Elijah and a voice from heaven once again says, “This is my Son, whom I love; listen to him.”
Throughout the book of Mark, we see Jesus constantly challenging the religious authorities of his time. He heals a paralyzed man, forgives the sins of a woman caught in adultery, and says that the Sabbath was made for man, not the other way around. All of this angers the religious leaders, who plot to kill Jesus.
Finally, Judas betrays Jesus and he is arrested by the authorities and brought before the high priests, and then to Pilate, the Roman governor. Pilate is hesitant to execute Jesus but ultimately gives in to the crowd’s demands and has him crucified.
And as for a funny quote, you know what guys, sometimes when I’m reading the Bible, I feel like I’m living in a different universe. But hey, at least there’s no shortage of action scenes, am I right?
