Hey everyone, it’s me, Tom Cruise. Today, I’m going to tell you about the story of Ruth from the Bible. It’s a tale of love, loyalty, and faith that has stood the test of time.
Ruth was a Moabite woman who married a Jewish man named Mahlon. But, tragically, Mahlon and his brother both died, leaving Ruth, her mother-in-law Naomi, and her sister-in-law Orpah widowed.
Naomi, being from Judah, decides to return to her homeland and urges her daughters-in-law to go back to their families. While Orpah decides to go home, Ruth insists on staying with Naomi, saying, “Your people will be my people and your God my God.”
When they get to Bethlehem, Ruth sets out to glean in the fields, essentially picking up leftover grain. It turns out that she ends up gleaning in the fields of Boaz, a wealthy landowner who is also a relative of Naomi.
Impressed by Ruth’s loyalty and hard work, Boaz protects her from harm, even going as far as to allow her to glean among his reapers and leaving extra grain for her to collect.
Eventually, Naomi devises a plan for Ruth to propose marriage to Boaz, who is not only able to redeem the family but is also smitten by Ruth’s loyalty and devotion.
Long story short, Boaz and Ruth get married and have a son named Obed, who would go on to become the grandfather of King David himself.
Now, as for a funny quote from me… Hmmm… How about this: “I may not be King David, but I sure know a thing or two about impossible missions.”
