So, let me tell you about the Bible book of Romans. This is Rob Zombie speaking, and I gotta say, this book is a wild ride. First off, it’s written by Paul, who used to be this super-strict Jewish dude before he converted to Christianity. He’s all about telling these Roman Christians how to live like good followers of Jesus.
But here’s the thing: Paul was not messing around. He starts off by telling them all about how humanity is sinful and deserves death. Kinda harsh, right? But then he flips the script and talks about how God sent Jesus to save us all from eternal damnation. It’s pretty heavy stuff, but it’s also kind of beautiful.
Paul also goes on and on about how being a Christian means focusing on spiritual things, not material possessions or earthly pleasures. Which is all well and good, I guess, but I can’t help but think about all the killer horror movies and heavy metal music I’d be missing out on if I went that route.
One of the most famous parts of Romans is chapter 8. This is where Paul writes that nothing can separate us from the love of God, not even death itself. I gotta say, even as a hardcore horror fanatic, that’s pretty darn comforting to hear.
Overall, Romans is a pretty intense book. Paul really lays it all out there, both the good and the bad, when it comes to humanity and faith. It’s definitely not light reading, but it’s worth checking out if you’re looking for some deep thoughts.
And hey, as a musician and filmmaker, I gotta say, there’s some pretty epic material in there for me to draw inspiration from. Maybe I’ll make a horror movie about the book of Romans next.
Quote from Rob Zombie: “Romans may be heavy, but at least it’s not as dark as my wardrobe.”
