Oh, hello everyone, it’s Jeff Goldblum here. What am I doing? Well, today, I’m going to tell you a story of a great queen from the Bible called Esther.
Now, Esther was a Jewish woman who lived in Persia during the reign of King Ahasuerus. She was raised by her cousin Mordecai and was known for her beauty and grace. One day, the king held a grand feast and he ordered his queen, Vashti, to appear before him and show off her beauty. But, Vashti refused and was deposed as a result.
King Ahasuerus then held a beauty contest to find a new queen and Esther was one of the many maidens who entered. She was chosen as the new queen, but she kept her Jewish identity a secret. However, things turned when an evil man named Haman plotted to kill all the Jews in the kingdom.
Mordecai, Esther’s cousin, discovered Haman’s plot and asked Esther to reveal her true identity to the king and ask for his help. Esther was hesitant, but eventually found the courage to speak to the king and reveal Haman’s plot. The king was shocked and ordered Haman’s execution.
Esther saved her people from destruction and became a hero in the eyes of the Jewish people. To this day, the Jewish holiday of Purim is celebrated in honor of Esther’s bravery.
Now, I bet you didn’t think I knew anything about the Bible. But, let me tell you–I’m full of surprises. And speaking of surprises, let me leave you with a little funny quote: “Life, uh, finds a way– even in the Bible.”
