a Numbers 22:21-39 poem

A talking donkey, strange but true,
Balaam rode along his way to do
God’s bidding, but his heart was wrong
A mistake for which he’d pay lifelong

An angel with a sword stood in their path
But the donkey saw, while Balaam was daft
The donkey turned and saved his life
While Balaam argued, causing strife

God opened Balaam’s eyes to see
What the donkey already knew to be
The angel of God, a sight to behold
A warning that was worth its weight in gold

God’s warning to Balaam was clear
His heart was wrong, his path not sincere
But the donkey’s voice, a strange surprise
Was a reminder that God hears our cries

Numbers 22:21-39, a lesson to learn
Listen to God, our hearts must yearn
And when faced with a strange sight
Trust in God, for He’s our guiding light.

a Numbers 22:21-39 rap

Verse 1:
Let me tell you about Balaam, a prophet for hire,
A man who let his greed and pride take him higher.
The king of Moab sent for him, with a mission to tarnish,
The Israelites’ reputation, he wanted to vanquish.

Verse 2:
Balaam mounted his donkey, set out for the land,
But an angel of the Lord stood in his plan.
The donkey saw the angel, veered off the path,
Balaam beat the animal, descending into wrath.

Verse 3:
Three times it happened, the donkey’s disobedience,
But then the Lord opened Balaam’s eyes, for his own diligence.
The angel stood before him, sword in hand,
Ready to strike if he resisted God’s command.

Verse 4:
Balaam fell on his face, and cried out in fear,
He realized his sin, the Lord’s message was clear.
He went to meet the king, but refused to comply,
For he knew that God’s chosen people would never die.

Verse 5:
So let this story be a lesson to all,
Don’t let your greed and pride make you fall.
Listen to the voice of the Lord, and obey,
For His ways are higher, and they lead the way.

Outro:
Numbers 22:21-39, a tale of Balaam,
A warning to all, to listen to the I AM.
So let us turn from our ways, and repent,
For God’s mercy and grace, will always be present.
