a 1 John 1:1-10 poem

First John, chapter one, verses one to ten,
Teach us to confess and repent of our sin.
The Word of life, Jesus Christ, has come,
To cleanse us from all wrongdoing and sum.

In Him, we can walk in the light of grace,
And have fellowship with the Father’s face.
Admitting our faults and turning away,
Brings forgiveness and a renewed day.

If we claim to be without sin,
We deceive ourselves and cannot win.
But if we confess, He is faithful and just,
To forgive and cleanse us from all dust.

So let us walk in truth and love,
Following Jesus, our Savior above.
And may our lives reveal His light,
To a world in darkness, shining bright.

a 1 John 1:1-10 rap

Verse 1:
Yo, let me tell you about the word of life
That we have seen and heard, no need to strife
Our hands have touched and our eyes have seen
The truth that’s been revealed, now we’re redeemed

Chorus:
1 John 1:1-10, let’s break it down
The message of salvation that’s found
In the blood of Jesus, cleansing our sin
Let’s confess and start anew, let Him in

Verse 2:
If we claim to have no sin, we’re deceived
But if we confess, we’ll be relieved
For He’s faithful and just to forgive
And cleanse us from all unrighteousness, we’ll live

Chorus:
1 John 1:1-10, let’s break it down
The message of salvation that’s found
In the blood of Jesus, cleansing our sin
Let’s confess and start anew, let Him in

Verse 3:
Those who say they know Him but don’t obey
Are liars, living in darkness every day
But if we walk in the light, as He’s in the light
We’ll have fellowship with Him, what a delight

Chorus:
1 John 1:1-10, let’s break it down
The message of salvation that’s found
In the blood of Jesus, cleansing our sin
Let’s confess and start anew, let Him in

Outro:
Let’s live by the truth, and not by lies
For in Him we have eternal life, it’s no surprise

For He’s the way, the truth, and the life, in Him we’re driven.

Title: Confession and Cleansing

Characters:
John
Narrator
Confessor

Narrator: 1 John 1:1-10
“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life— 2 the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us— 3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things we write to you that your joy may be full. 5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.”

(Scene opens. John is standing on stage alone. Narrator and Confessor are offstage.)

John: (Looking up to heaven) God, I thank you for your grace and mercy that have given me the opportunity to confess and be cleansed of my sins.

Narrator: As John prayed, a man appeared in front of him, seeking forgiveness.

Confessor: John, I have come to confess my sins and ask for forgiveness.

John: (Approaching the Confessor) My child, I am happy that you have decided to seek forgiveness. What is it that you need to confess?

Confessor: I have been walking in darkness; I have been living a life of sin.

John: (Laying hands on the Confessor) It is not too late to come to the light. Our God is faithful to forgive us when we confess our sins. All you need to do is confess and be cleansed.

Confessor: (Bow his head in repentance) Lord, I confess my sins, and I ask for your forgiveness.

John: (Inspired by the Holy Spirit) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Confessor: (Starts weeping) Thank you, John. Thank you, Lord. I feel like a new creation.

John: Indeed, you are a new creation, and the blood of Jesus Christ has cleansed you from all sin.

Narrator: John and the Confessor continue praying, as they enter into a time of worship and fellowship with God.

(The scene fades out as they continue in prayer.)
