Wise Words Weave – a Matthew 12 Craft
Materials
- Cardboard or blank index cards
- Yarn or embroidery thread
- Tape or glue
- Scissors
Instructions
- Cut your cardboard or index cards into strips, about 1 inch wide and 4 inches long.
- Write a wise word or phrase from Matthew 12 on each strip. Examples include "out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks" (Matthew 12:34), "a tree is known by its fruit" (Matthew 12:33), and "whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother" (Matthew 12:50).
- Cut several strands of yarn or embroidery thread, each about 12 inches long.
- Tape or glue one end of a strand to the back of one of your cardboard strips, leaving about 2 inches of excess yarn or thread hanging below the strip.
- Weave the yarn or thread through the cardboard strip, going over and under each strip until you reach the end.
- Repeat steps 4-5 with the remaining strips and strands of yarn or thread, weaving them together to create a colorful and textural wall hanging.
Optional
- Add beads or other embellishments to your yarn or thread for extra flair.
- Create a larger weaving by using a piece of cardboard or foam board as a base, and weaving multiple strips of cardboard together.
