Wedding Banquet Wreath – a Matthew 22 Craft

Materials:

  • Grapevine wreath
  • Silk flowers (roses, baby’s breath, etc.)
  • Ribbon
  • Glue gun
  • Scissors

Instructions:

  1. Begin by heating up the glue gun.
  2. Take the silk flowers and cut them off of the stems. Leave a small portion of the stem attached to each flower.
  3. Apply hot glue to the back of each flower and press it onto the grapevine wreath. Continue adding flowers until the wreath is covered to your liking.
  4. Cut a length of ribbon and tie it into a bow. Cut the ends of the ribbon at an angle.
  5. Apply hot glue to the back of the ribbon bow and press it onto the wreath, covering the stems of the flowers.
  6. Allow the glue to dry completely before hanging the Wedding Banquet Wreath.

Explanation:

This craft is inspired by the Parable of the Wedding Banquet found in Matthew 22. In the parable, a king invites guests to his son’s wedding banquet, but they refuse to come. The king then invites anyone he can find, good and bad alike, to fill the banquet hall. This wreath represents the beauty and celebration of a wedding banquet, and reminds us to accept the invitation to God’s feast when it is offered.
