Materials

  • 12 plastic eggs
  • Egg carton
  • Items to put inside the eggs:
    • Egg 1: a small piece of bread or cracker
    • Egg 2: a small cup or piece of cloth to represent the cup and linen that Jesus used at the Last Supper
    • Egg 3: 3 dimes to represent the 30 pieces of silver Judas received for betraying Jesus
    • Egg 4: a small crown of thorns or toothpick to represent the crown of thorns that was placed on Jesus’ head
    • Egg 5: a small cross or toothpick to represent the cross that Jesus was crucified on
    • Egg 6: a small piece of sponge or cotton ball to represent the sponge that was filled with vinegar and offered to Jesus on the cross
    • Egg 7: a small nail or toothpick to represent the nails that were used to nail Jesus to the cross
    • Egg 8: a small white cloth to represent the burial cloth that Jesus was wrapped in
    • Egg 9: a small stone or rock to represent the stone that was rolled in front of Jesus’ tomb
    • Egg 10: an empty egg to represent the empty tomb
    • Egg 11: a small piece of fish or goldfish crackers to represent the fish that Jesus ate with his disciples after his resurrection
    • Egg 12: a small picture or item to represent Jesus’ ascension into heaven

Instructions

  1. Before starting the craft, read John 20 to understand the story of Jesus’ resurrection.
  2. Fill each egg with the corresponding item listed above.
  3. Place the eggs in the egg carton in order.
  4. Use the craft to tell the story of Jesus’ resurrection to children or others.
  5. Open each egg and explain the significance of the item inside.
