Radiant Clay Pots – a 2 Corinthians 4 Craft
Materials needed:
- Air-dry clay
- Acrylic paint (in gold and white)
- Paintbrushes
- Clear acrylic sealer spray
- Popsicle sticks
- Small plant or flowers
Instructions:
- Begin by rolling out the air-dry clay until it is about ¼ inch thick.
- Cut the clay into a circle shape using a popsicle stick or any other tool you have. It doesn’t have to be perfect.
- Use the popsicle stick to etch the words "Radiant Clay Pots" onto the front of the pot. You can also add any other design elements you’d like.
- Let the clay dry for at least 24 hours (or as instructed on the packaging).
- Once the clay is completely dry, use a paintbrush to paint the entire pot with gold acrylic paint.
- After the gold paint has dried, use a smaller paintbrush to paint the words and design elements in white paint.
- Let the paint dry completely before sealing the pot with clear acrylic sealer spray.
- Once the sealer has dried, add a plant or some flowers to the pot.
Discussion:
This craft is based on 2 Corinthians 4, which talks about how we are like clay pots that hold a great treasure inside. The treasure is the message of Jesus Christ and the hope and salvation that come with believing in him. The clay pots may be fragile, but the message inside them is powerful and life-changing. This craft is a reminder that even though we may feel weak or inadequate, we can still carry the message of Christ with us and share it with others.
