Oil of Affection – a Matthew 26 Craft
Materials:
- Small glass bottle with a cork or lid
- Olive oil
- Essential oil of your choice (such as lavender, rose, or jasmine)
- Label or tag
- Pen or marker
Instructions:
- Begin by filling the small glass bottle halfway with olive oil.
- Add a few drops of the essential oil of your choice to the bottle.
- Close the bottle with a cork or lid and shake it gently to mix the oils.
- Take a moment to reflect on the story of Jesus being anointed with oil by a woman in Matthew 26.
- On the label or tag, write the words "Oil of Affection" and reference the scripture passage (Matthew 26:6-13).
- Attach the label or tag to the bottle.
- Use the oil as a reminder of God’s love and affection for us, and as a way to show love and affection to others by anointing them with the oil.
- Consider giving a bottle of Oil of Affection as a gift to a friend or loved one, along with a note explaining its significance.
