Materials needed:

  • Glass jar with lid
  • Gold or yellow tissue paper
  • Mod Podge or white glue
  • Paintbrush
  • Tea light candle

Steps:

  1. Tear the gold or yellow tissue paper into small pieces.
  2. Apply Mod Podge or white glue to the outside of the glass jar using the paintbrush.
  3. Place the torn tissue paper pieces onto the Mod Podge or white glue, layering until the entire outside of the jar is covered.
  4. Let the jar dry completely.
  5. Once dry, place a tea light candle inside the jar.
  6. Light the candle and watch as the gold or yellow tissue paper creates a warm, glowing effect.

Explanation:

This craft is inspired by John 18 from the Bible. In this chapter, Jesus goes to the garden of Gethsemane to pray before his arrest. The glow from the candle represents the light that Jesus brought to the world, even in the darkest of times. The gold or yellow tissue paper represents the glory and divinity of Jesus as the Son of God. This craft can serve as a reminder of Jesus’ sacrifice and the hope that his light brings to the world.
