Fisherman’s Faith – a Matthew 14 Craft
Materials Needed
- Construction paper (blue, white, yellow, green)
- Scissors
- Glue
- Markers or crayons
Instructions
- Cut out a blue sheet of construction paper into a large ocean wave shape.
- Cut out a white sheet of construction paper into the shape of a boat.
- Cut out a small yellow square for the sail of the boat.
- Cut out a small green rectangle for the mast of the boat.
- Glue the sail and mast onto the boat.
- On the back of the boat, write "Matthew 14:27 – Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid."
- Glue the boat onto the ocean wave.
- Draw and cut out small fish shapes from the remaining construction paper.
- Glue the fish onto the ocean wave around the boat.
- On the back of each fish, write something that you are afraid of or worried about.
- Talk about how the disciples were afraid when they saw Jesus walking on water, but Jesus told them not to be afraid because he was with them.
- Reflect on how we can have faith in Jesus and not be afraid in our own lives, just like the disciples did.
Optional:
- Use glitter or sequins to make the ocean wave sparkle.
- Add a small Jesus cut-out walking on water near the boat.
