Faithful Threads – a Romans 4 Craft
Supplies Needed:
- White embroidery floss
- Embroidery needle
- Small embroidery hoop
- Scissors
- Printed copy of Romans 4:20-21 (optional)
Instructions:
Start by selecting a piece of fabric for your embroidery. You can choose any color or pattern, but a light fabric will allow the white embroidery floss to stand out.
Using a pencil or marker, lightly sketch out the words "Faithful Threads" onto your fabric. You can place the words wherever you like, but the center of the fabric usually works well.
Thread your embroidery needle with the white embroidery floss, knotting the end. Begin sewing your design, following the letters you sketched out. Use a backstitch or running stitch to create clean lines.
As you stitch, meditate on the words of Romans 4:20-21. You can print out a copy of the verses and keep them nearby to refer to.
"No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised." – Romans 4:20-21 (ESV)
Once you have finished stitching your design, trim any excess floss and fabric.
Place your finished embroidery into a small embroidery hoop and display it in a place where you can be reminded of God’s faithfulness, even when our faith wavers.
This craft is a beautiful reminder of the faith of Abraham, who trusted in God’s promises even when circumstances seemed impossible. As we create and reflect on this craft, may we also grow strong in our faith and give glory to God.
