"Divine Virtues" – a 2 Peter 1 Craft
Materials Needed:
- Construction paper (various colors)
- Scissors
- Glue
- Markers or pens
- Printable template of the word "VIRTUES"
Instructions:
- Begin by reading and discussing 2 Peter 1 from the Bible with your children or students.
- Explain that in this passage, Peter lists several virtues that Christians should strive to cultivate in their lives.
- Give each child a piece of construction paper and have them trace and cut out the letters for the word "VIRTUES" using the printable template.
- On each letter, have the children write or draw one of the virtues mentioned in the passage (faith, goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love).
- Once all the letters have been decorated, have the children glue them onto another piece of construction paper to create a banner that spells out "VIRTUES".
- Hang the banner in your classroom or home as a reminder of the divine virtues we should all strive to embody.
Optional Variations:
- Have the children work in pairs or small groups to create individual letters for each virtue, then combine them to form a larger banner or poster.
- Instead of a banner, have the children create individual cards or posters featuring one virtue each, and display them around the room.
- Use this craft as an opportunity to discuss what each virtue means and how we can work to develop them in our daily lives.
